Wow. Last night Ben and I were updating the calendar and to-do list on our kitchen chalkboard walls. He did the math and realized that we are just 90 days from owning Cockamamy for a solid year. How did that happen?!? Time flies when you’re remodeling!
As a salute to the new year and nine months of demo and renovations, we’re giving you a look back at where we started and where we are today. Some amazing changes! And many lessons learned…
A huge project this summer: a complete exterior makeover including roof, siding, doors and decks.
Inside, we took the house down to the studs, replaced all plumbing and wiring, moved walls and re-drywalled. Here’s a look at the living room before and after:

From the living room (and lovely painting that came with) looking toward the bedroom door on left and kitchen on right.

Similar view from the corner of the living room looking into the kitchen and to the blue laundry room door.
And the kitchen has changed just a tiny bit:

The same kitchen wall, with the newly completed tin treatment and the gorgeous vintage door from Faye and SA’s wedding. The door leads into the pantry/laundry.
Upstairs, we took down the circa 1970 paneling and gross foam boards and removed the wall that divided the space into two rooms.

The upstairs is two rooms, this paneled one at the top of the stairs and a second room through the doorway. We made this space into our master suite.
Out back, you can see another view of the new exterior. Here we added a 12-foot-wide deck across the back of the house.
Happy new year, y’all!! Thanks so much for helping make 2014 such an amazing year for us. We are still working on many Cockamamy projects (the to-do list is not a short one!) and we hope you’ll keep coming back to see what we’re up to in the new year.
Wishing you some amazing makeovers in 2015!
