These things are EVERYWHERE at Cockamamy!! I mean everywhere! They dive bomb us from the trees and perch on the grass making it impossible to not commit murder if you set foot outside.
And for some reason, they really, really like the rear wheels on my car. Not the front wheels. Not just one wheel. Both rear wheels. Nature is strange.
Here’s a little taste of what an afternoon sounds like on the farm. In person, your ears would be ringing. These guys are very, very loud—luckily they all go to sleep around 8PM. Maybe that’s why the neighbors haven’t complained about the front-porch power-tool set up. They can’t hear it for the bugs!
Great photos of the cicadas…not very pretty are they? That sound can drive you crazy.
Wouldn’t it be scary if the cicadas were mean?
If they were biters, I’d lose my mind! Thank goodness they are harmless. But don’t go outside barefoot!
